David Caldwell is a renowned figurative painter committed to observational drawing and painting. He studied at The Glasgow School of Art (1994-98) and the Royal Drawing School (2003-05).
He recently displayed 77 small portraits at the National Portrait Gallery as part of the BP Portrait awards. Other recent exhibitions include: the Royal Society of Portrait Painters, The Threadneedle Prize, The Lynn Painter Stainers, The ING Discerning Eye and the Ruth Borchard Self-portrait Collection.
Recent awards include The Bulldog Bursary (from the Royal Society of Portrait Painters), and The ING Discerning Eye Founder’s Purchase Prize (awarded by critic Brian Sewell).
David paints Portraits, Figures, Landscapes and Still-lifes in oils from his North London studio.
