Martin studied Fine Art at The Glasgow School of Art (MA) and Leeds Arts University (BA). Notable achievements include the RWA Sculpture Prize, the Kenneth Armitage Young Sculptor Award and the Woon Prize.
He has worked as a visiting lecturer at Leeds Arts University, Glasgow Clyde College and on several community arts education projects in Glasgow and Leeds.
His own practice works with sculptural phenomena to question our relationship with the quotidian. He uses the language of the readymade to consider the dichotomy between the potential of the counter-intuitive, heterogeneous individual and the mass produced utilitarian object.
