My practice explores traditional 17th/18th century themes through a contemporary narrative of cubist iconography. Perrotta’s new paintings feature a range of still life’s alluding to the 17th century ideological settings, juxtaposed with unrecognizable abstract shapes to counterbalance the viewer’s expectation. Through her use of distinguishable periods such as Renaissance Art and Cubism, she takes on a contemporary female narrative on what was conventionally considered male.
