Taking a few simple objects to create a sense of mood in painting.
We will look at a range of artists and see how different approaches and techniques can give a sense of poetry and universality to the everyday. We will refer to the work of Caravaggio, Zurbaran, Gwen John, Morandi, Antonio Lopez-Garcia and see how a mixture of observation and invention can take the paintings onto another level.

Awarded the Gold Medal and Ondaatje Prize for Portraiture from the Royal Society of Portrait Painters. Desmond has an MA in Fine Art from the Royal College of Art, London and many awards including Gold Medal and Ondaatje Prize for Portraiture from the Royal Society of Portrait Painters Exhibition and the Stephenson Harwood Prize for Painting from the Royal College of Art.
