Ready to begin or advance your collage journey? This class is perfect for both new students seeking foundational skills and returning artists desiring ongoing tuition and new challenges.
We will examine the broad history of collage through the 20th and 21st centuries using master artists' work and established conventions as starting points for our own collages. This course will build your confidence, technical knowledge and expand your creative vision, helping you define your own collage style.
Day 1 Dada, Surrealism, the photo-collage, and the media world.
Day 2 Abstraction and collage.
Day 3 Collage and representation.
Day 4 Personal project
A selection of papers will be provided for collaging, but students are also encouraged to bring any materials they want to use in class
Suggested materials:
Papers, magazines, paints, pastels, ink and ink pens, brushes etc. Scissors. Some form of glue (Prit Stik, PVA glue, etc.).
