Drawing and Painting / Virtual Christmas Art School

Drawing and Painting / Virtual Christmas Art School

Who is this class for?

“How do I get going, and how do I create the picture that I really want to paint?” We all experience that feeling. The online course gives 3 hours in the week to take your time to relax and concentrate on making a painting - at the end of the session something will exist that wasn’t there before!

What's the format?

A Virtual Studio class led by Desmond Healy.

Using an open studio approach, we look at a wide range of artists from contemporary to old masters, to help us understand how to structure a painting and to see how to nurture each student’s individual vision. Possible approaches are discussed, and as the work evolves the tutor gives individual advice and support. A completely different energy is created when working alongside people compared to working alone. Each week students are introduced to ideas for different starting points including using monoprints and mixed media and using a range of source material to build the image.

There is an opportunity to develop personal projects, working both directly and from memory, looking at colour, materials and mediums and how to creatively explore the process.

Be willing to experiment - you will surprise yourself!
